The Gâteau Basque in a miniature version
This classic Basque cake, the gâteau Basque or “etxeko bixkotxa”, has been recreated in a miniature version by Boncolac’s creative chefs.
Unlike the majority of French pastries, the gâteau Basque was not created by a pastry chef, but rather it comes from a family recipe passed down through the generations. Our chefs perpetuate this classic dessert in keeping with tradition, in the very heart of the Basque country.
Round in shape and golden in colour, our individual gâteau Basque is made using all butter shortcrust pastry, and filled with a delicious, bitter almond flavour crème pâtissière.
The traditional lines scored on the surface in a diamond pattern, for which it is renown, enhance its authentic look.
A modern, convenient take on this classic dessert, particularly suited to new food trends such as takeaway and snack food!
Contains no preservatives, artificial flavourings or palm oil.
How to prepare
IN THE OVEN
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Take the cake out of its clear plastic wrapper and unmould. Then, place it on a baking tray. Heat for 10 minutes. Then, allow to cool for 20 minutes before serving.
